"Monsters University" took everyone else to school in Friday box office reports, earning $31 million, according to Forbes contributor Scott Mendelson. The only Pixar debut bigger than that was 2010’s "Toy Story 3."
In second place was the Brad Pitt zombie epic "World War Z." Despite mixed reviews and reports of reshoots and a bloated $200 million-plus cost, the movie made $25 million on Friday, a better showing than expected. Entertainment Weekly is predicting it to be the biggest opening of Pitt’s career.
