Free tuition at Pennsylvania college a 'small step' toward debt relief

The Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) announced plans last week to make tuition free for qualified, low-income students through its 50th Anniversary Scholars Program.

There are approximately 15,000 full-time students in the college’s 34,000-person student body. College officials have estimated that 440 students will be eligible to take advantage of the program in its first year, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
