Former South Korea spy chief Won Sei-hoon jailed for election meddling

The former head of South Korea's national spy agency, Won Sei-hoon, has been sentenced to three years in jail for meddling in the 2012 presidential election to help Park Geun-hye win the vote.

The Seoul High Court said Won, who served as director of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) from 2009 to 2013, used the agency for activities against the opposition, Yonhap news agency reported.
