Food Scandals Push McDonald’s Japan Into Loss

TOKYO—The operator of the McDonald’s chain in Japan reported on Thursday its first annual loss in 11 years for the year ended in December as it suffers from sharp falls in sales due to growing food-safety concerns.

McDonald’s Holdings Co. (Japan) Ltd. logged a net loss of ¥21.84 billion ($186.2 million) last year, compared with a profit of ¥5.14 billion in the previous year.
