Flu Vaccine Has Only Been 23% Effective

According to the data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this season’s flu vaccine has protected only 23% of its recipients from the disease.

Brendan Flannery, an epidemiologist at the CDC’s influenza division, said, “Commonly, it’s been closer to 60%. However, this year’s figure is nearly the lowest the agency has seen during the decade or so since it began tracking annual vaccine effectiveness.”
