Flu outbreak crowds hospital waiting rooms, no deaths reported in Jackson County

JACKSON, MI – Jackson County continues to see an unusually high number of influenza cases, leaving the emergency room at Allegiance Health crowded with patients, health officials and Jackson residents confirmed.

Influenza-like illnesses in Jackson County were roughly three times higher this season than the average number of cases in the last five years, said Richard Thoune, health officer for Jackson County and Allegiance Health.
