Welcome To Los Santos is a promotional mixtape compilation meant to hype the video game Grand Theft Auto V, which came out in 2013 — Los Santos being the fictional city setting of the gangster-fantasy adventure. With 16 songs and 26 vocal acts, it sprawls, but it does hold together as a modern West Coast rap album, complete with heavy rock, electro and funk influences — as well as the requisite three Freddie Gibbs features.

All songs were chosen and/or created by hip-hop producers Oh No and Alchemist. In "Play it Cool," they lay the beat and rap alongside Earl Sweatshirt and singer Samuel T.
