First confirmed case of dog flu in Madison

The outbreak, as of this report, has spread to most states in the Midwest infecting more than 1,300 dogs. Feedback from area veterinarians will help the MCDH gauge what type of illness is present in the community, and whether it will be classified as an outbreak. Neither of the canine strains is contagious to humans, but one could sicken cats.
