Firefighters are warning residents in the southern Dutch town of Geleen to shut their windows and doors after a large fire at a chemical complex sent a plume of thick smoke drifting over the town.

Chemelot, an industrial complex that houses chemical companies, said on its website that the blaze broke out Monday during work on the warehouse's roof. There were no immediate reports of injuries at the complex or among residents in the town, located 200 kilometers (120 miles) south of Amsterdam.
