Federal Wildlife Managers look for data on Sage Grouse

The US Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking information about conservation efforts for the greater sage grouse. The agency said on Monday that it requires the best data possible to make a conclusion on whether the bird needs protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Congress has prohibited the federal government from using money to protect the bird, but as per the Fish and Wildlife Service, the agency has to arrive at a decision by September on whether a listing is warranted as it is bound by a court order.
