Fear the Panthers: Northern Iowa Reaches Top 10

There are two shots that every Kansas basketball fan remembers. One is Mario Chalmers’s three-pointer that sent the 2008 national-title game against Memphis into overtime. The other is a three that essentially eliminated Kansas from the 2010 tournament. It came from the hands of Ali Farokhmanesh of Northern Iowa—a team that is now eyeing another NCAA tournament run five years later.

This season, though, Northern Iowa advancing to the Sweet 16 wouldn’t be much of an upset. The Panthers have a 26-2 record and haven’t lost since Jan. 1.
