FDA gives Nod to Novartis’ Meningitis Vaccine

A meningitis vaccine has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The approval from the FDA came after an outbreak at Princeton University that infected nine people and caused one death. The drug was offered at Princeton University to ensure prevention from the disease.

Novartis, a multinational pharmaceutical company based in Basel, Switzerland, has made the drug, Bexsero, which is aimed at preventing a strain of meningococcal bacteria known as serogroup B in people aged 10 to 25.
