FDA approves Actavis Antibiotic for treatment of cIAI and cUTI

Actavis Antibiotic has been approved by the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to treat intra-abdominal infections (cUTI) and urinary tract infections (cIAI) caused by drug-resistant pathogens. The antibiotic is manufactured by AstraZeneca and Actavis, two British-Sweden pharmaceutical companies as a joint venture.

The approval of the antibiotic came after Phase II trial of the drug. Phase II trial demonstrated the effectiveness and safety for patients suffering from cIAI and cUTI.
