Experts have expressed concern over a deadly tick-borne virus already known to have caused human deaths, which may now be on the loose in New Jersey. Known as the Powassan virus, the condition resulted in the fatality of a 51-year-old Warren County woman two years ago and “appears to be in Northwest New Jersey,” so says Hunterdon County Public Health Division director, Tadgh Rainey.
Those infected with the Powassan virus are prone to experiencing very similar symptoms to those of Lyme disease, including the tell-tale rash, headaches and fevers associated with the condition.
