Facing negative stereotypes, women with workplace power show more signs of depression

Women in positions of workplace power show more signs of depression than men in similar positions, according to a new study from the University of Texas. The reason: Men don't have to overcome negative stereotypes often attached to women in leadership positions.

Women who acquire more authority on the job show more symptoms of depression compared to men, according to a study from University of Texas at Austin sociologist Tetyana Pudrovska published in the December issue of Journal of Health and Social Behavior.
