It is unfortunate, that convicted war criminals are honored there. However, I cannot fault the Japanese for honoring their war dead.
One of my favorite shrines and museums to visit. Beautiful grounds. As a WW II veteran the museum allows me to try and understand the enemy we fought. I personally have a strong feeling of kin with the Japanese and have had many close friends I contact. A shame someone can't leave the memory of the dead alone. The war crimes were paid for with their lives.
A rare occurrence in Japan. Uyoku dantai will rally against whoever did this.
