Amid its international growth plan to cut $1.5 billion in costs, Walgreen Walgreen Boots Alliance (WBA)new management team led by Italian billionaire Stefano Pessina said 200 U.S. stores would close amid the restructuring and integration of two iconic brands.

Walgreens late last year completed its acquisition of European drug retailer Alliance Boots and made its debut under the new holding company, trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol WBA to reflect the Walgreens Boots Alliance transition.
