(Reuters) - Esperion Therapeutics Inc said its experimental drug showed greater reductions in cholesterol levels in patients on statins, compared with a placebo, in a mid-stage study.

The study was evaluating safety and effectiveness of the drug, ETC-1002, in patients with high cholesterol levels who were on statins, a class of drugs commonly prescribed to cholesterol patients.
