Endangered Tortoises Feasting on Invasive Plants

Giant tortoises on one of the Galapagos Islands have shown scientists a preference for invasive plants -- non-native fare that seems to give the iconic creatures a nutritional boost.

The conclusion comes thanks to field work done by Stephen Blake, PhD, an honorary research scientist at Washington University in St. Louis, and Fredy Cabrera, of the Charles Darwin Foundation in the Galapagos.
