Endangered species has hope with the birth of a baby killer whale

The sighting of a baby orca has delighted many as its birth offers hope to an endangered species. The newborn, estimated to be just seven or eight days old, is the newest member of the Southern Resident Killer Whale population.

The Southern Resident Killer Whales are the only killer whale population listed as endangered, and as of 2005 they have been protected under the Endangered Species Act.
