'Empire' finale ratings jump...again

Wednesday's eventful two-hour season finale averaged a record 16.5 million viewers, according to preliminary Nielsens, up 12% from 14.7 million in early figures for last week's one-hour episode. (The red-hot show drew 17.5 million for its final hour).

Among young adults, Empire climbed 14% from last week, and through 12 hours, now ranks as the top-rated network series among viewers ages 18 to 49, eclipsing CBS's The Big Bang Theory, with only original episodes counted.
