Effectiveness of Mammograms in Breast Cancer Detection Questioned in Few Cases

Nearly 40 percent of the women in the U.S. have dense breast tissue and new reports suggest that mammograms may not be as efficient in detection of breast cancer risk in case of breasts with dense tissue. According to National Cancer Institute, the detection of breast cancer using mammograms among women with dense tissue is rather difficult as they have high amount of glandular and connecting tissue.

In the United States, 21 states have issued guidelines to testing facilities to share the information with women having dense breast tissue.
