Eddie Murphy to receive Mark Twain Prize

WASHINGTON — The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will present the 18th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor to Eddie Murphy.

Murphy will receive the prize at a star-studded gala performance on Oct. 18 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The prize is awarded annually to a comedian who has had an impact on American society much like 19th-century novelist and essayist Samuel Clemens, best known as Mark Twain.
