Ebola virus sent to low-security lab was likely dead

Washington: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Wednesday said that an internal investigation of an Ebola incident at one of its laboratory in December has showed that the Ebola virus sent out from the lab was likely dead and did not pose any threat to the staff.

The CDC made the declaration following mishaps involving anthrax and a deadly strain of bird flu. CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden said the agency had made "real progress" to improve safety, "but we have more to do."
