Dallas nurse Nina Pham received four experimental Ebola treatments while battling the deadly disease: plasma from an Ebola survivor, TKM-Ebola, brincidofovir and ZMapp. Each treatment attacks the virus and supports the patient in different ways.
TKM-Ebola blocks Ebola’s ability to make copies of itself. In 2010, researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston published a study showing that TKM-Ebola protected monkeys after they had been infected with a lethal dose of Ebola.
