Trans fats exist in anything and everything, from cakes and cookies to fried foods and even dairy products. They are primarily used to increase the shelf life of a product and stabilize the flavours. The Food and Drug Association in United States has taken some stern steps to reduce the use of trans fat in processed foods and phase out artificial trans-fat from all foodstuffs nationwide.
