Earth in mass extinction; plane crash; more educated wives

We apologize in advance, but we are about to bring you the most frightening fact you'll read all day. Or ever. A new study says we're losing so many animals around the world that we're experiencing a sixth "mass extinction" of life on Earth. Five times in the history of this planet, a huge percentage of our life has been wiped out in mass extinctions. It's how we lost the dinosaurs. Usually the events are caused by collisions with giant meteors. This extinction is different because humans – through habitat destruction and global climate disruption – are the ones actually causing it. The study reported that around 322 species have gone extinct over the last five centuries. Although big, photogenic species, such as tigers, rhinos and pandas, get the bulk of the attention, researchers say it's clear that even the disappearance of the tiniest beetle can significantly change the various ecosystems on which humans depend.
