Dwarf galaxies are, rather obviously, the smallest in the Universe, but that hasn’t stopped them from forming great swathes of the stars in our skies.

A new study of observations from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has shown that starbursts in dwarf galaxies played a much larger role than expected in the early history of the Universe.
