Dutch minister: EU to extend first batch of Russia sanctions

BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union extended by six months a first set of sanctions against Russian and pro-Russia separatist officials, which were due to expire in March, because of the continued fighting in eastern Ukraine, officials said Thursday.

"We have shown that the EU is ready to take further measures and to prepare further measures in the weeks to come if the situation doesn't improve," EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini said.
