Drilling on Mars reveals acidic conditions, maybe even water

The NASA rover, fittingly named ‘Curiosity’, has been exploring around Mars’ Mount Sharp for nearly half a year collecting environmental data about conditions on the red planet.

It’s current mission is to drill into a large rock and analyze the rock’s contents to determine if conditions on the planet may have ever been suitable to life. After shattering its first rock sample, ‘Mojave’, the Curiosity rover is having much greater success on its second sample, ‘Mojave 2’.
