Dragonflies use Predictive Way to Hunt Prey: Study

According to researchers from Hughes Medical Institute in Ashburn, detailed research has revealed the hunting methods adopted by dragonflies. The researchers conducted a study on the insect using ultra-high-speed cameras and an artificial fruit fly to attract the insect into hunting it.

The researchers found that dragonflies use a predictive way during hunting their prey. Most of the insects use a reactive way. The results of the study showed that the insect uses its own strategy while catching its prey and does not depend on prey's movements.
