Director of Detroit Institute of Arts to retire in June

The director of the Detroit Institute of Arts, who worked to protect the museum's collection during the city's bankruptcy, plans to retire in June.

Graham Beal tells the Detroit Free Press ( ) for a story Thursday he'll retire when his contract expires June 30. The 67-year-old says "we've achieved a lot" and thinks "it's time, even though the work is not all complete" on building an endowment.
