Depression, anxiety affect battle against breast cancer

Kate McCullough always feared she would get breast cancer — her grandmother had died of the disease.

What followed the terrifying diagnosis was a grueling battery of treatments and complications — a bilateral mastectomy, six rounds of chemotherapy, 12 rounds of a study drug, 33 radiation treatments, an infection, lymphedema, breast reconstruction and additional surgeries.
