Demystifying the measles outbreaks

Between the Disneyland outbreak and the recent revelation measles has popped up in Toronto, a virus Canada and the U.S. wiped out more than a decade ago is back in the news. The measles virus has not circulated in either country since the late 1990s.

When the virus is detected it means it's been imported - by a resident who contracts measles while travelling. Then the highly contagious virus can spread among those who are not immunized.
