Delta IV rocket blasts off with GPS satellite

CAPE CANAVERAL — A Delta IV rocket blasted off Wednesday with another satellite modernizing what the Air Force calls the world's most widely recognized constellation — the Global Positioning System, or GPS.

Firing a main engine and two solid rocket boosters, the United Launch Alliance rocket launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Launch Complex 37 at 2:36 p.m., bolting from its pad with more than a million pounds of thrust.
