Delamaide: Clinton pick promising for Wall Street reform

WASHINGTON — Paul Volcker continues to have an important influence on government policy, but his latest scheme for financial regulatory reform may be too clever by half.

The Volcker Rule inspired by the former Federal Reserve chairman was finally translated into actual regulations late in 2013, but only after some energetic prodding by Treasury Secretary Jack Lew forced the various agencies involved to get their act together to bar banks from speculative trading.
