BBC’s long-running sci-fi show Doctor Who returns Saturday for its eighth season. Now, you might be saying, “Wait, eighth season? Didn’t this show just have a 50th anniversary last year?” Well, yes, you’d be right. The original Doctor Who premiered in November 1963, and since then 12 actors (well, 13 but one of them sort of doesn’t count) have played the title role as the show evolved over 50 years. In 2005, the show was rebooted for the modern era, and this Saturday starts the eighth season of “New Who,” as fans call it.
