DEA approves Drug Take-Back Program on Long Island and across New York State

In 2013, US Senator Chuck Schumer at Moby Drugs in Farmingdale highlighted the launch of a drug take-back program. This program was designed to help the residents to remove addictive prescriptions from their medicine cabinets and dispose them off in a drop box that was to be made available at pharmacies.

But despite the Center for Disease Control (CDC) showing that almost 70% of people who became addicted to prescription drugs got the drug from their home, family or friends, the federal regulations stopped the pharmacies to start the take-back program in New York.
