NASA’s Dawn space probe has started reshaping its orbit around the dwarf planet Ceres and will continue to do so for the following six weeks, until it can reach a viable position to start making scientific observations.

The probe arrived in the celestial body’s orbit Friday at 4:39 a.m. PST, reaching its final destination after more than 7 years since it was launched from Cape Canaveral. Dawn will remain in orbit of Ceres for the rest of its operational lifespan.
