I first saw “Selma” star David Oyelowo act was when I traveled to Ann Arbor, Mich., in 2001 for the Royal Shakespeare Company's marathon, two-day performance of Shakespeare's “Henry VI, Parts I, II and III” and “Richard III.” Cast as the coronated-as-a-baby King Henry VI of England, Oyelowo had made history as the first black actor to play a Shakespearean monarch for the RSC.My wife and I were so knocked out by the production that a framed poster from it hangs in our home, so Oyelowo as Henry VI greets me every day.
