There's not much good to be said for Dancing. The show's judging panel is annoying, its insistence on treating good-sport efforts as artistry is demeaning, and its determination to stretch the definition of "stars" beyond all reasonable boundaries is insulting. (The Bachelor? Please.) But there is this: Among this year's dancers is the incomparable Patti LaBelle, one of the best singers and live performers of our age — and as long as she's involved, Dancing gets a pass in this corner.
