Cyclone Pam Death Toll May Climb

WELLINGTON, New Zealand—The death toll from Tropical Cyclone Pam was expected to climb after a private charter plane Monday reported scenes of devastation on an island in Vanuatu where all communication links have been severed.

Eight people have been confirmed dead since the storm slammed into the small South Pacific country over the weekend, but authorities and aid agencies still haven’t been able to communicate with the many of the islands outside of Efate, where the capital, Port Vila, is located.
