A court in Cyprus on Wednesday ordered that an Egyptian man accused of hijacking a plane and diverting it to Cyprus while threatening to blow up an explosive belt be detained for eight days.
Seif Eddin Mustafa, 59, admitted to hijacking the domestic EgyptAir plane Tuesday en route from the coastal city of Alexandria to Cairo, the Associated Press reported.
