Corinthian Colleges fined $30 million for distorted job placement numbers

The U.S. Department of Education has fined troubled for-profit Corinthian Colleges $30 million for misrepresenting job placement rates to current and prospective students.

A comprehensive investigation confirmed 947 cases of misstated placement rates in Corinthian's Heald College system. The Education Department informed the company of the fine Tuesday.
