In not-so-large region of the Middle East, an area called Tel Tsaf, scientists have recently reported one of the most significant archaeological finds in history. It is a little piece of copper about 1.6 inches in length and less than half an inch across. Yosef Garfinkel, a Hebrew University professor, discovered the piece and he and his team believe it is an arrowhead dating back as far as the early 5th millennium.
To the average person that might seem like a very long time ago—and it is—but it also probably doesn’t seem out of the ordinary. After all, this excavation began in the 1970s so they were expecting to find some evidence of life in the region, right?
