Consumer Prices in U.S. Surge During March

The U.S. consumer prices surged during March for a second straight month of increases in the cost of housing and gas, signaling an uptick in the inflation of the country that should keep the Federal Reserve Bank on its course of starting interest rate hikes this year.

The Department of Labor on Friday released a report that showed the Consumer Price Index had increased by 0.2% during March after a similar gain for the month of February. The CPI fell by 0.1% during the 12 months through the month of March after remaining unchanged during February.
