The construction of the world’s biggest telescope on a mountain top in Hawaii, planned to be built by a nonprofit company has been postponed. The Native Hawaiians have been protesting against the construction of the telescope since they consider the mountain sacred. Hawaii Gov. David Ige confirmed the news but did not specify if and when the construction would resume.
The telescope was being planned to be built at the top of Mauna Kea, which is the highest peak in Hawaii. Native Hawaiians say it is the sacred burial ground of their ancestors.
