Legendary comedian Garry Shandling died Thursday afternoon, which prompted an outpouring of grief from the Hollywood community. Late-night hosts Conan O’Brien and Seth Meyers found out about his death mere hours before they filmed their shows in front of live studio audiences, and both paid tribute.
On TBS’s “Conan,” O’Brien scrapped his entire monologue as he talked about his close friendship with Shandling, who was an inspiration for his comedy. He recalled that although Shandling was hilarious, he was also extremely sensitive and empathetic.
