Colorectal Cancer May Be Defeated With The Help Of Vitamin D!

A new study which has been conducted by the researchers of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has shown that vitamin D may be useful in helping the body fight against colorectal cancer by boosting the immune system. Colorectal cancer is the 3rd commonest cancer in the world, and the 4th highest cause of cancer related deaths as well. In America, it is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report that 51,783 people died from the disease in 2011. The function of Vitamin D is to boost the immune system and help in calcium absorption. It can also reduce the risk of multiple sclerosis, asthma symptoms, and heart attacks.

The latest research had collected data from 170,000 participants of two earlier researches - the Nurses' Health Study and the Health Professional Follow-up Study.
