The Colorado River and California Gulf Reunited after 16 Years

On Thursday, the Colorado River was reunited with California Gulf (Sea of Cortez) after a period of 16 years. This was the culmination of 53-day long artificial flood process. The artificial flood was part of an international agreement between Mexico and the U.S dubbed “Minute 19”. The agreement was an extension on the previous Minute 18 for a five year period. The aims of the agreements was improving water infrastructures, fostering the ecology of the Colorado River and reducing water supply during dry seasons.
